In other news, we are now the proud owners of the Music PEI Award for Rock Recording of The Year!!
Jan 15, 2010
So, we got a shipment of EP's. They all said "English Words" on the cover, so we'll run with it. Henceforth, we are Smothered In Hugs no more, we are ENGLISH WORDS!
*Sigh* we need a new website now. Keep an eye out for it in the next week or so. And just to make sure you come back, there will be FREE DOWNLOADS on the site.
Looking forward to our shows in the next few weeks, including an all ages show next weekend, the Music PEI Gala, and several others.

Hello 2010.
We don't lie.
In the last 25 days the band has recorded, mixed and had a 4 song EP mastered. Not to mention artwork, manufacturing, etc.
Here's the fun part. We're giving the thing away. This Friday January 15th at Hunter's here in Charlottetown.
The EP is appropriately called "Customer Appreciation". As a big thanks to all our local fans who have supported us over the years, everyone that comes to see us Friday Jan 15th gets a free copy of the EP placed directly in their hand. Mysterious new local band "English Words" to open the show. Get there early. Come the night before and camp out if need be. We have a surprise or two in store. Don't be left out.
In other news we have a busy two weeks playing Music PEI Showcases (we're nominated for Rock Recording of the Year and Entertainer of the Year). See "Shows" section for details.
Talk soon,
Mission Command

Merry Festivus!
We have a lot of exciting stuff in the works. A busy month of big local shows lined up, culminating in the Delta Ballroom where we'll be counting you down to midnight.
Any spare moments we have this month are being spent in the lab amongst vials, beakers, generators, monkey cages, and people with big glasses, working hard to bring you the next sock-shocking sound to blow your shoes off and crimp your hair. No monkeys will be harmed during the writing of these or any other songs. We test only on live, human subjects.
There's also a rumor of an inkling of a possibility of an idea that we'll jump out of the frying pan and into the fire, or at least the studio, to bring these sonic delights to you, our favorite 6 billion people on earth.
Oh yeah, it's also worth a mention that we pulled one of the 22 ECMA nominations scored by PEI artists this year. We're up for the Sirus Sattelite Radio Rock Recording of the Year. So petition your congressman to let us bring home the award. Two nods each to our Collagen Rock cohorts in Two Hours Traffic and the Danks as well. Huge kudos to all who are nominated, we're among big company on this little rock. More details at this place.
More after these brief non-commercial messages,
Ernie

Hey folks!
Long time no talk. We've been hiding in the shadows, lying in the sun, swimming in the moonlight, and generally trying to squeeze some summer vacation in between practising, writing, playing, and (UGH) working. As the summer winds down, we're winding up. We're in the middle of lining up some September dates, so keep an eye on the Shows page for details.
In the meantime, we'll see you at the Canada Games ceremonies.
Peace out for now.
Signed,
Josh's distinguished and temporarily gray hair.

Smothered In Hugs English Words are on the road to Cornerbrook. As these words hit the web, they are in the motherland of the Mardeenians, Cape Breton. Maybe waiting for a Nfld ferry. Maybe with coffee. Maybe with Jagerbombs. Probably with both.
If you can't catch the band in Cornerbrook, they'll be playing two shows back to back with Matt Mays & El Torpedo as soon as they return. Details for all shows are on the shows page.
Catch ya later

First off, new website!!!! Much thanks to our old, Old Sam drinking, friend Evan Dickson for his hard work.
Rather than give you a run-down of everything we've done in the past two years, and neglected to tell you about on our old website (RIP) we'll briefly talk about what's to come.
The first, and most important thing, is that our debut LP, The Healing Power Of Injury, gets a national re-release Tuesday, February 10, 2009. For now, you can order it directly from the merch section.
We're currently busy planning a tour of Eastern Canada for March/April. You'll be the first to know when these dates start to trickle in.
For now, we can tell you that we have some Maritime dates planned for February (see SHOWS) which will end in Corner Brook, Nfld, for ECMA week. Band rule: no treacherous, potential limb-breaking, ski excursions until all four shows have been put away and we have been "screeched in".
Make sure you visit here frequently over the next few weeks as we quickly update content. Yes, we're getting our shit together!!
Talk soon
